Developing a solution for early detection of the forest fire
DOI: 10.15625/vap.2015.0019
Abstract
This paper proposes a method for early detection of forest fire based on smoke detection. At each observation point, a webcam that can rotate in 3600 is used to detect the very early flowing up smoke to alarm the officers. The system includes two different parts: (i) a rotatable base that is controlled by a PID controller implement in ATTINY 2131 microcontroller, (ii) a high resolution webcam connected to a computer. A software program is executed to control the rotation of the base in 3600 and detect the smoke in the image captured by the webcam by the proposed background subtraction after noise elimination to recognize the right position of smoke. Experimental results have shown that the proposed system is feasible and applicable for early detection of forest fire.
